The Systems Technician installs IT Hardware and performs minor configuration work in our data centers. The installation includes racking and stacking, ensuring the rack mounted PDUs will not be overloaded in an emergency, completes the cabling work including labeling, configures the remote management port\connection, and updates our Data Center Inventory Management Tool. The Systems Technician also supports triage of alerts, and replacement of failed hardware and must work with 3rd party vendor support.  

Job Responsibilities:

1.      Remain familiar with company’s products, customers, security/privacy policies and information systems.

2.      Performs all activities in strict compliance to all policies and processes concerning support, change management and security:

· Assist in the configuration and installation of hardware components, adhering to Business Unit time-frames/needs.

·Assist in high level planning and identifies configuration opportunities in the equipment rooms and data processing floor.

· Provides on-call support for internal users including server reboots, hard drive replacement, and memory upgrades.

· Supports installation and troubleshooting of various types of connectivity/cabling within the Data Center.

3.      Manage projects from start to finish such as upgrades and new equipment rollouts.

4.      Communicate technical information to non-technical users and customers with clarity and compassion.

5.      Enter and track projects/tasks using the standard ticketing system.

6.      Maintain documentation on networks and systems as per standard procedures.

7.      Ensure the highest level of IT security possible.

8.      Continually learn and improve technical skills by making use of reading materials and other available training tools.

9.      Be available during non-business hours to address production issues and perform maintenance.

10.   Respond promptly to system emergency situations.

11.   Work as a team with other colleagues in operations.

12.   Obtain and share knowledge of all supported applications and platforms.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Requires 0 - 2 years of data center infrastructure experience
  • Basic knowledge of equipment cabinetry
  • Ability to work with hand tools, and basic knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Ability to work in high-paced environment, meeting customer requirements in a timely manner.
  • Advanced English Language skills, both verbal and written.
  • Solid customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
