Network Engineering Lead - Projects (3-4 days WFH)

Information Technology & Systems
21273 Requisition #

We are currently looking for a Network Engineering Lead to join our IT Services team, focussing on projects. Please note that we are flexible regarding the location of the role, and if preferable you also have the option to work from home 3-4 days per week, but due to the on-call element of the roles, candidates must be within a reasonable distance from our Nottingham (Fairham House) office. The working hours are standard Mon-Fri 9am - 5.30pm, but some flexibility is required when supporting specific projects or changes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Experian’s technology services organisation, working as part of a team that operates in a fast paced, changing and challenging 24x7 environment. The team is extremely client focused on providing the very best service whilst being agile & flexible to support our business in delivery of many revenue generating projects. The Network Engineering Team provides services across the UK&I and EMEA regions.

This is a lead position which does not directly people manage a team, but rather leads on the technical delivery of projects and acts as the interface between networking and other teams such as build. You do not need to have deep experience within Networks - an understanding of the fundamentals is fine, and you may be a more general Infrastructure/Technology Manager looking to progress your career. You do not need previous experience within a large organisation.

You can expect to be responsible for:

  • Leading on the delivery of projects, implementing changes and helping maintain the operational aspects of our network infrastructure.
  • During projects, directing other network engineers that work across the design, delivery and support disciplines with key focus areas being, project delivery and operational excellence as part of developing and delivering the I.T. Network Infrastructure.
  • Driving strong collaboration & communications across multiple support teams, business owners and product managers/owners.
  • Supporting agile delivery teams in the delivery of all requests and represent networks at Scrum meetings – supporting the removal of blockers, celebrating successes and supporting delivery
  • Supporting the refinement of requests and associated designs to advise on the delivery details as needed
  • Work with the demand and delivery function to support requestor communications as needed

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will have a strong technical background but this does not purely need to be in a networking environment. You could be a more generalist infrastructure manager with some experience in networks. Experience in leading project delivery and providing direction and support to other colleagues (e.g engineers) would be advantageous.

The team work with a variety of manufacturers including Cisco & Citrix, and so whilst not essential, Cisco qualifications would be advantageous. You must have a good understanding of IP, VPN, WAN, LAN, Switching, Routers & Firewalls.

You will be someone who:

  • Ensures that goals and scope are understood by the team, and will be able to manage a team’s workload, ensuring that all work is tracked and KPI’s are produced.

  • An inspirational and motivated leader, passionate about developing your team, celebrating your success and striving to deliver the very best for your clients

  • Supports backlog management through effective use of methodologies, coaching the team.

  • Will drive strong collaboration & communications across multiple teams, business owners and product managers/owners.

  • Highly motivated and experienced within network incident management, and is comfortable liaising with customers and senior stakeholders with good reporting skills.

  • Self-starter who can get projects off the ground quickly and efficiently, facilitating getting the work done.

  • Preferably qualified or have knowledge of in ITIL incident, problem & change management.
