The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team, part of Experian IT Services, is responsible for deployment and support of database platforms globally. We are looking for an experienced data platform expert/architect, who has worked on major transformation projects (from mainframe to distributed architectures), understands the current market trends (cloud, PaaS, DaaS etc.) and is able to provide leadership in implementing the next generation of database services.

The ideal candidate understands the business, can articulate the business needs for data and then leverages the results to build the organization’s data architecture & implementation strategy. The platforms underlying the business products are undergoing major transformation over the next few years so the end state data strategy needs to be flexible and adaptive to new and rapid evolution.

We are looking for a candidate who is capable of partnering with multiple business unit product teams and operations teams globally to understand the product needs of the business and its underlying data requirements within the line of business and across the enterprise. He/she should easily translate those needs into a comprehensive and cost-effective business data strategy and partner with technology teams to lay out a next generation roadmap for database services. He/she would be responsible to lay out a delivery plan which will optimize business value. He/she should be comfortable with decisioning on data platform roadmaps & tool recommendations and capable of delivering the same. Finally, he/she should be comfortable managing programs, providing oversight, monitoring progress and escalating issues. Agile delivery experience is critical.


Responsibilities
• Sets directions and recommends database platform based on use case
• Leads the research of new data platform solutions, performs poc’s collaborating with vendors and internal teams
• Partners with BU’s to derive requirements for data/information management that includes data modeling, inventory, integration, security etc. and propose cost effective solutions
• Collaborates with IT leadership to understand technology and business strategy and delivers tactical plans to support the strategies
• Delivers data design artifacts that justify architectural solutions effectively and aligns with business strategy
• Ensures data best practices, policies, internal standards, etc. are created and adhered to in all architectural solutions
• Provides analysis, planning, implementation etc. of various data solutions including integration with existing in-house solutions or 3rd party vendor products.
• Performs research on growing number of database, ETL, stream etc. solutions in the marketplace and guides the Enterprise to choose the right cost-effective database solutions for next generation of applications
• Develops and presents variety of materials, to technical and non-technical audience, to educate them on data solutions and make effective decisions.

Qualifications:

 Education: Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics).
 10+ years of experience in enterprise database/information management at a major financial institution preferred (mainframe & distributed platforms)
 Proven ability to develop strategies, product roadmaps and product positioning
 Experience leading or supporting data strategy programs
 Experience with Hadoop (Cloudera) and big data, NoSQL (HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra etc.) environments
 Experience with Spark (open-source, Databricks etc.)
 Experience with Search (Solr, Elastic, Splunk etc.)
 Exposure to PaaS platforms (openshift) and Cloud database environments(RDS, etc.)
 Experience with business intelligence, machine learning and artificial intelligence is a plus
 Experience with visualization tools – Cognos, Tableau, and/or Clickview are preferred
 Excellent understanding of Data Governance, metadata management, etc.
 Previous working experience in relational database technologies (db2, oracle, sql server etc.)
 Proven ability to analyze large volumes of data and draw meaningful conclusions
 Must have strong organizational skills
 Experience working in a highly regulated environment preferred
 Proven ability to coordinate across functional teams, IT professionals, and other key stakeholders
 Strong relationship-building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and proven skill in influencing others
 Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
 Experience in software development life cycle. Should be able to influence application projects and provide guidance as needed.

• Experience working with geographically distributed teams
