About this role

Experian Consumer Services (ECS) are the team behind your “Data Self”. The ECS Technology team work as part of an Agile business that has been through a complete technical and organisational transformation.

Now working as part of cross functional delivery teams that include Product Owners, Developers, Designers and Test specialists amongst others, we are deploying new versions of our applications multiple times per day. We’re using modern technologies such as React.js and more than 100 microservices that combine to form a cloud native platform we are proud of, and that our customers love.

We’re a growing team, and we need more people who can help us build exciting journeys and features for our customers, whilst also helping us keep this as a great place to work. We hope you might be the one!

We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer, which means different things to different people, but at ECS Technology we mean that you’ll understand how to build for the web using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, that you’re comfortable writing backend code in C# and JavaScript/Node.js, but that most importantly you are excited to try new technologies and different ways of working.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity in all our teams. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status – we work hard to make sure that you will feel at home here whatever your background.

Some of our developers have Computer Science, Mathematics or other technical degrees. If you have this that’s excellent, but don’t worry if you don’t. What we really value is that you have demonstrated an ability to produce real working products on the web, and you have a good grasp of the technologies that you’ve used.

You would be joining an Agile delivery team who use Scrum and would be part of an organisation that works using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). You’ll find it easiest to understand the way we work at scale if you’ve worked using scaled delivery methods in the past, but it’s not mandatory.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

You will need good knowledge of at least:

  • HTML, CSS, and building for both desktop and mobile.
  • JavaScript
  • C# and .NET Core and/or Node.js

We use these following technologies to build our products. These are not mandatory but we’d expect you to be knowledgeable some of the following:

  • Agile principles
  • SOLID principles and clean coding
  • Node.js
  • React
  • Unit testing and TDD
  • JavaScript module loading with Webpack
  • Development and CI/CD tools such as Jira, Git, Jenkin, Travis or codebuild
  • AWS
  • Docker
  • Splunk
  • Automation testing tools to support different levels of test automation e.g Selenium, cypress, nightwatch

  • Great communication and collaboration skills – able to explain and take ownership
  • Collaborate effectively with other areas of the Experian Business
  • Contribute to a team cultural of shared responsibility for Quality
  • You’re happy to maintain the applications you develop because you know they’re built with quality from planning to deployment
  • Identify and address testability concerns/impediments
  • Be passionate about building solutions adhering to technical standards and focused on delivering value to our customers
  • Pairing/3amigos – Pairing with Engineers, testers, product owners/managers
  • Have an interest in the emerging technical landscape, keeping up to date with changes in industry and technology and appreciate the bearing these may have on our products.
