Data Modelling Analyst - Associate 36468

This role is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing multiple and complex projects from concept to implementation on time, within budget and in line with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities/Outputs:


Data Analysis and Model Development (15%) – Support and lead other Data Modellers to develop descriptive and predictive analytical solutions using best practice analytical methodologies.  Ensure all analysis is thorough and that established quality procedures are followed to guarantee the robustness of the solution.


·         Ensure that Experian procedures and processes are followed throughout the analytics solutions delivery process.

·         Specify data extraction and manipulation routines for complex/non-standard projects providing guidance to other Data Modellers where necessary.

·         Carry out and assist others in the extraction, formulation and manipulation of data to create the structured samples necessary to address business requirements.

·         Ensure that all critical business issues are identified through data analysis.

·         Interpret and supervise the interpretation of analysis results.

·         Implement appropriate quality control procedures for all modelling and analysis reporting and scoring.

·         Reduce error rate and re-run frequency.  Meet both the analytical and business objective.

·         Produce the best quality models that can be produced within the given project timeline.

·         Analyse and confirm the integrity of source data to be evaluated.

·         Participate in auditing models and results for accuracy.

·         Perform audits to support the implementation of statistical models and other decision tools

·         Ensure quality and accuracy of own work and the work of any Data Modellers on the project.

·         Follow best practice procedures and processes throughout the analytics solution delivery process


Project Design (25%) – Define project requirements:

·         Thoroughly research available alternatives for the client solution.

·         Use business knowledge and experience and make contact with all relevant internal and external stakeholders (including clients and potential suppliers)

·         Ensure production of documentation for each stage of the project from scoping to post-implementation

·         Ensure that developments follow the defined Delivery process and that project documentation meets the required standard

·         Liaise with appropriate areas to ensure use of best practice

Project Management (15%) – Manage the delivery of multiple, complex analyst projects to clients from inception to completion.


·         Responsible for assessment and communication of project risk

·         Negotiate and acquire resources needed to enable successful project delivery, including people, any insourcing/outsourcing needed, hardware, processing time

·         Manage projects to achieve milestones

·         Control scope of projects, re-negotiating with the client where any additional requests result in further chargeable work or the need for revised timescales

·         Prepare, negotiate, monitor and control budget of assigned projects to ensure expenditure is in line with agreed business case

·         Identify, escalate and resolve problems.  Conduct regular reviews and produce updates

·         Issue project management status reports to project stakeholders highlighting risk areas and overall progress

·         Work with colleagues in development for product support

·         Provide input and support to the development of Project Management Best Practice to ensure the business meets and exceeds business performance goals

·         Be organised, well-document the project by using set-up templates or versions thereof and meet project deadlines

·         Collaborate with internal and external clients to determine the appropriate performance measures and statistical metrics to be applied during the analysis project

·         Collaborate with internal and external clients to provide project support

·         Maintain accurate time sheet management, logging time to projects effectively


Manage client relationships (15%) – Manage the client relationship through the life cycle of the project, building strong relationships


·         Manage the client relationship through the life cycle of the project

·         Drive high standards of customer service and proactive client communication throughout the project team

·         Proactively communicate project status and deliverables through the life of the project

·         Support the client through the project, providing guidance through project design to implementation

·         Resolve issues raised by the client in a timely and efficient manner

·         Nurture and enhance the client relationship, identifying and progressing with the consultant opportunities to enhance existing solutions and cross-sell other Experian products and services

Pre-sales and sales support (15%) – Recognise and maximise opportunities to support the analytics solutions sales process.


·         Where necessary attend client meetings in order to support the sales process, provided through expert analytics solutions knowledge and demonstrations to clients

·         Able to present in front of clients and prospect Experian analytics solutions

·         Participate in bid reviews

·         Provide support to the sales force for preparation of sales documentation, proposals, sales materials, participation in tenders, etc. related to analytics solutions projects


Teamwork (10%) – Support the team.


·         Act as a mentor to junior project team members

·         Ensure effective communication of project issues

·         Actively support and drive cross-regional collaboration and knowledge-sharing


Development (5%) – Improve personal, professional and management competencies and business knowledge through continual learning.


·         Own and action personal development plan

·         Extend knowledge of Experian product, service, clients and business processes

·         Seek feedback to improve personal performance

·         Ensure that potential learning from each project is maximised

·         Acts as a role model, displaying a positive, enthusiastic, can-do approach even in the face of adversity

      Degree, with a high mathematical content e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physical Sciences

·         Thorough knowledge of the use and application of analytical methodologies

·         Thorough understanding of the scorecard development process

·         Strong analytical skills

·         3 – 5 years of experience in statistical/analytics project work

·         Experience working within a financial services environment, with specific knowledge and understanding of Basel and IFRS 9

·         Some travel into Africa may be required
